Concealed Carry

Another Way of Visually Presenting Current Concealed Carry Laws in the United States

There are lots of interesting ways of depicting the current status of concealed carry laws in the United States, and especially the dramatic expansion of “shall-issue” or “right-to-carry” laws during the recent period of liberalization.

I re-posted one recently that was created by Rob Vance and published by David Kopel on Volokh Conspiracy. I have also always liked the one created by Jeff Dege on Radical Gun Nuttery, because it uses a moving graphic to depict the spread of right-to-carry laws. (I recently learned that the one Vance created expanded on Dege’s original work.)

Most recently I saw a map on Wikipedia’s entry for “concealed carry in the United States” (updated in January 2015) which looks correct as far as I understand the law in the 50 states. As you can see, it shows alot of green and not much red, just making the same point in a different way.
